Cranes and Outriggers
Types of Cranes and Outriggers
Electric Truck Cranes
Electric cranes harness power from either your work truck’s battery or an external power source to execute lifting and maneuvering tasks. While they boast superior cost-effectiveness and demand minimal maintenance, they are best suited for light-duty assignments, capable of supporting loads typically up to 6,000 lbs.
Hydraulic Truck Cranes
Hydraulic cranes require a power take off (PTO) unit connected to your work truck’s chassis or transmission and a hydraulic system to pressurize and pump hydraulic fluid from a reservoir through hoses to cylinders on the crane’s arms to make them extend or retract. The truck’s engine or a separate power source generates this pressurization force, making it possible for the user to lift and maneuver loads typically up to 14,000 lbs.
